Water Watch

Dominion Water & Sanitation District, as many of our surrounding communities, is actively evaluating our water supply portfolio and monitoring usage within the Sterling Ranch Community during the historical low 2025/2026 winter and spring precipitation and snowpack. As a direct result of our water-wise residents in Sterling Ranch and Dominion’s strong water supply portfolio Dominion is not issuing drought restrictions.
This aligns with Dominion’s state-approved Drought Mitigation and Response Plan that was developed to provide our customers:
“…the guidance necessary to ensure that drought and water shortages are addressed in a proactive manner, minimizing long-term impacts, and ensuring sufficient water is available for the health safety, and community livelihood during water shortages.”
Dominion’s Drought Plan defines drought stages (Stage 1, 2, or 3) with specific triggers and total demand reduction targets. Dominion will enter into a Stage 1 drought should our water supplies not effectively meet at a minimum 90% of the demands of our customers. At this time Dominion’s physically available water supply exceeds 100% of our customer demands or Normal conditions per our Dominion Drought Plan. Additional information on Dominion’s water supply index and Drought Plan can be found on Dominion’s website: www.dominionwsd.org/dominion-resources.
While Dominion and Sterling Ranch have not currently issued a Drought declaration it is imperative that we continue to be good stewards of water efficient practices. Sterling Ranch is a leader in the state in water efficiency practices. These community values are one piece of the puzzle that allows Sterling Ranch to continue to thrive no matter the hydrologic conditions.
