Job Description & Details:

Dominion Water & Sanitation District (DWSD) is growing and is looking for a dynamic Project Engineer who is looking to take their career to the next level.  This is an ideal opportunity for anyone who wants to be part of a fast paced and innovative organization while having the stability of working at an established utility.  This position will report directly to the Finance and Operations Manager.

Hiring Range:  Project Engineer: $80,000 - $115,000/year

DWSD is a wholesale water & wastewater provider located in Northwest Douglas County.  We are on the cutting edge of water efficiency standards in the State with a robust water supply portfolio to include advancing regional rainwater harvesting, the only pilot project in the State. The project engineer will assist the team in planning and advancing projects for storage, wastewater treatment facilities and water treatment facilities. In addition, the project engineer will work closely with DWSD retail customers to ensure that we continue to meet levels of service that we are committed to.

 As a project engineer you will be involved in the following:

  • Project management, including maintaining project schedules, budgets, and preparing reports for specific studies along with the design and construction of capital improvements.

  • Opportunities to solve complex problems and address project related topics.

  • Planning and conducting independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements on District projects.

  • Provide technical assistance to customers and contractors.

Education & Skills:

  • Must possess a bachelor’s degree (BS) from an ABET accredited college or university in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.

  • Previous experience in the water and wastewater field is desired.

  • Possession of a Colorado Professional Engineer license is desired.

  • 5+ years of relevant experience required.


Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment.  The successful candidate will be required to work from Dominion’s office setting located near I-25 and Arapahoe Road in Arapahoe County at least four days per week.  This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines.

The performance of this position may require exposure to construction areas require the use of personal protective equipment including a hardhat and safety glasses.  Field work related activities will be located in northwest Douglas County.
