Project engineer
Job Description & Details:

It is an exciting time to work for Dominion Water & Sanitation District (DWSD), and we are looking for a Project Engineer to join our team. This is an ideal opportunity for anyone who wants to be part of a growing business within an established organization. This position will report directly to the Engineering Manager.

Hiring Range:  Project Engineer: $80,000 - $115,000/year


DWSD is a wholesale water & wastewater provider within the northwestern quadrant of Douglas County. We pride ourselves in providing excellent customer service and being innovative on how we address the challenges of the dynamic municipal water and wastewater industry.  Identification and development of available water resources along with the management of studies and design and construction of capital projects within the water and wastewater industry is where the project engineer’s expertise will be utilized.

This position will be working within DWSD’s Engineering/Project Management team. As a project engineer you will be involved in the following:

  • Project management, including maintaining project schedules, budgets, and preparing reports for specific studies along with the design and construction of capital improvements.

  • Opportunities to solve complex problems and address project related topics.

  • Planning and conducting independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements on District projects.

  • Provide technical assistance to customers and contractors.

Education & Skills:

  • Must possess a bachelor’s degree (BS) from an ABET accredited college or university in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.

  • Previous experience in the water and wastewater field is desired.

  • Possession of a Colorado Professional Engineer license is desired.

  • 5+ years of relevant experience required


Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment.  The successful candidate will be required to work from Dominion’s office setting located near I-25 and Arapahoe Road in Arapahoe County at least four days per week.  This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines.


The performance of this position may require exposure to construction areas require the use of personal protective equipment including a hardhat and safety glasses.  Field work related activities will be located in northwest Douglas County.
