Cherokee Well Drilling Description and Sampling Parameters
Dominion Water and Sanitation District (DWSD) is adding a Denver Basin well to its supply system at the Cherokee Ranch site in Douglas County, CO. The well will be completed in the Arapahoe Aquifer; however, prior to completion, the Arapahoe well’s initial borehole will extend through the Laramie-Fox Hills Aquifer, to allow for geophysical logging, aquifer testing, and water quality sampling of the Denver and Laramie-Fox Hills aquifers. For these activities, temporary casing and screen will be placed in the borehole. Following testing, the borehole will be backfilled/sealed and the permanent well will be completed in the Arapahoe Aquifer. After completion of the Arapahoe well, aquifer testing and water quality sample collection will be performed. The depth to the bottom of the aquifers is approximately 1000 feet for the Denver, 1500 feet for the Arapahoe, and 2100 feet for the Laramie-Fox Hills. At this time, the well will not be completed with permanent pumps, motors, and controls, and will not be connected to conveyance or treatment infrastructure
